Stoppbandsbandbredd hänvisar till bredden på stoppbandsområdet, det vill säga frekvensspannet mellan de höga och låga gränsfrekvenserna. Bandstoppfilter har olika dämpningsgrader, vilka används för att representera graden av dämpning av signalen i stoppbandsområdet i förhållande till signalen i passbandsområdet. Vissa bandstoppfilter kan ha ripples i passbandsområdet, det vill säga förändringar i signalens förstärkning över ett specifikt frekvensområde. Ripples kan styras genom filterdesign och optimering för att säkerställa signalkvalitet i passbandsområdet. Bandstoppfilter har vanligtvis specifika ingångs- och utgångsimpedanser för att matcha impedanskraven för signalkällan och belastningen.
